Valhalla
35 years of fantasy, adventure and friendship
Be a dwarven barbarian, an elven sorcerer, a halfling thief or a half-ogre paladin. Walk the roads of Midgaard, cross the frozen north, sail to Khorsabad, and go down into the caves where the dragons' followers fled. Fight trolls, goblins, wights and, when you are very ready, dragons. Valhalla is a free, multiplayer text world where every room is written, every fight is yours to win or lose, and the people beside you are real. It has been running since 1991 and it is waiting for you tonight.

Made for screen readers
Valhalla is a text game, and we build it for players who listen rather than look. Many of our players and staff use JAWS, NVDA or VoiceOver, and the game has been played that way for decades. There are no graphics to miss and nothing that needs a mouse.
- The screen reader client keeps the game as one plain, linear log: new text arrives at the end, your input stays in one place, and nothing moves on its own.
- Prefer a terminal? Telnet to
valhalla.comport4242with any client; TinTin++ and Mudlet both work well with a screen reader.

Slay dragons
Eleven races, from brownie to groll. Eleven guilds, from paladin to necromancer. Two hundred and seventy areas across fourteen lands, and a world with gods who answer.
Find your fortune
Quests with real rewards, shops, banks, donation halls and treasure that is only ever where someone bothered to look. The game remembers everything you do.
Make friends
Players and staff talk in the game and on Discord. Some of them have been here since the nineties, and newcomers are looked after.
Connect by telnet
Any telnet or MUD client works, and so does a screen reader. Port 4240 is also open.

Valhalla is free to play and run by volunteers, but the server is not free. If the game has been good to you, a donation helps pay for the box it lives on. Nothing is for sale; everyone walks the same roads.
